In accepting this award for 10 years of longevity in this relationship, I'd like to say a few words.
First and foremost, I'd like to thank the universe for having decided that Ms. Blue Eyes and I were destined for each other. I used to attribute our having met to extreme fortuitousness, the improbability of it all just working out in our favor, but no, this was devine interference/intervention; this was providence.
Second, I'd like to thank us, for being so resilient and determined to make this work as well so well. There has not been one year in which we did not become stronger as a couple and even 6,000 miles of continent and ocean couldn't keep us apart! It is obvious that we are eternal, isn't it?
A couple weeks ago, I was researching longevity in relationships and came across a
Stanford sociologist's study, which noted that the breakup rate is high during the first five years, but if a couple makes it to 10 years, the odds are overwhelmingly in their favor that the relationship is solid and will last many more years. He did not go on to say what it is that makes that 10 year mark the fulcrum, but I know what it has been for us since we were just months into this relationship: we simply refuse to not be a couple. We are unwilling to let disagreements, feelings, etc. get in the way of us and we will find a way to make this work. I think that this is all made easier by the fact that we share a common passion, that being each other. As you know, I am certifiably crazy about you and indeed, you are my obsession and the love of my life. I believe that the next 10 years will bring us even closer together and will have us even more committed than we already are. This has already been written in the stars, babe.
