I was listening to music online today and The Cowsills song about the flower girl came on. I was surprised when I looked at my phone and saw that the name of the song was The Park The Rain And Other Things. What a great name! That made me think about you and as I listened to the other songs that followed, I was surprised that so many of them reminded me of you. But then again, EVERYTHING REMINDS ME OF YOU! I decided to make a playlist with you in mind and I devoted the next hour to doing just that. It was a fun endeavor and as of now, there are 28 songs in the playlist and they're all from the 60s or early 70s. The subject matter for all of them are varied and really the only thing they have in common is that there are lyrics could've been written about you, us, my thoughts and memory of you, my desire for you and/or things that I wish for. I'll give you a few examples of the songs:
Never My Love, The Association (1967): I chose this because I truly don't think that I could function properly without you in my life.
You ask me if there'll come a time When I grow tired of you Never, my love Never, my love
You wonder if this heart of mine Will lose its desire for you Never, my love Never, my love
What makes you think love will end? When you know that my whole life depends On you (on you)
2. California Dreaming, The Mamas & The Papas: We met in California and visited San Francisco twice!
California dreamin' (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day
3. The Rain, The Park & Other Things: when I was listening to this song, I was imagining you in your early days in Chicago riding on a bus high as hell and still being super-attractive. It also reminds me of the rainstorm that we got caught in last month.
I saw her sitting in the rain Raindrops falling on her She didn't seem to care She sat there and smiled at me
Then I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew) She could make me happy (happy, happy, she could make me very happy) Flowers in her hair Flowers everywhere (everywehre)
It's such a great playlist and I've named it Songs Written About You. For the past hour, I've had this image in my head in which I play it on a Saturday morning when I'm cooking an omelette for you; as it plays, you're in the living room (braless and in gray yoga pants) dancing barefoot while it plays and all is right with the world. Let's make that happen in November.
