We spent the weekend in the lower Mojave Desert and as always, it did not disappoint. We checked into the hotel, dropped off the dog and then headed out to Wonder Valley to find some interesting places to shoot. We found an old homestead that we'd previously seen and got some amazing pictures there, which I will post later.
After leaving Wonder Valley, we drove east on Highway 62 toward Twentynine Palms and stopped at this spot, which was a long road leading into the Pinto Mountains. the Pinto Mountains Wilderness, which is a twenty-five thousand acre BLM property located just north of Joshua Tree National Park. The Pinto Mountains Wilderness is known for having dark skies devoid of light and pollution and amazing sunrises and sunsets. Tonight's sunset would live up to the reputation. As Ms. Blue Eyes, got ready to pose for me, I took a few pictures of the landscape. Highway 62 was just 200 meters to our rear. The cars that passed would not have time to look our way (but if they did, they would have been in for quite the treat) but we didn't want to press our luck. We shot for about 15 minutes and then left to get Thai food. The light was amazing and I think I captured Ms. Blue Eyes nicely. We're going to be getting back here real soon.
