Covered Bridges Day Trip

I'm so excited about your suggestion that we do a day trip from Indianapolis to see the covered bridges in Parke County! I'd made that trip once with my girls' mother. At the time, she was pregnant and the bouncy little Jeep that I'd rented for that day (I was thinking about buying one) turned out to be the best means of transportation for a sick woman. Still, it was a worthwhile trip and I came back with a large, wooden saw that had a hand-painted scene on the blade. A bit kitschy, but I'm a sucker for kitsch sometimes.
The drive there is just shy of 90 minutes, so I figure we'd need five hours to make it worthwhile. That would give us two hours to sightsee and get lunch somewhere. Actually, if time is that much of an issue, we could even grab McDonald's on the way there and eat on the way. I don't know that I even want to visit all that many bridges, I just want to go there with you and have great conversations while we drive along on a pretty spring or fall day.
