I must start this by saying that the video above will make sense after you've read the ideas below.

You can't imagine how happy I was when you suggested that we should have a commitment ceremony. It was one of the many times that you say or do something that reminds me that you really do love me as much as I love you. I immediately started brainstorming ideas (it was a rainy weekend, which made it perfect for staying inside and thinking about important things) and within a few hours I came up with the following ideas:

  1. Music Playlist: We could do sappy, happy, or a mix. We could play something like All Kinds Of Everything or The Book Of Love during the ceremony and later throughout the evening, we could listen to music from the concerts that we've attended over the years - The Record Company, America, Kenny Loggins, et al.

  2. When we exchange vows, we should be barefoot and standing on sand from Joshua Tree National Park. I have those three glass jars that you gave me to fill up with the sand that we collected and I need to bring you one in April.

  3. We must have flowers, especially poppy flowers! This idea came to me last night and today while on our hike, I started gathering flowers to press in a book. Not just any flower mind you, but...poppy flowers! There were bright orange poppy petals laying all over the ground and it was easy to gather them up and put them in the book that I'd brought along. I'm not really sure what to do with them (scatter them about maybe), but I knew that we have to have them and we will have them. When I take the boys to JT next month, I'm going to gather more flowers to press and among them will be desert poppies and a few big white flowers from a Joshua tree! Again, I have no clue of how we can use them (that's your area of expertise), but they sure will look pretty.

  4. We will be wearing casual clothes of course, but you will also be wearing your day collar and I will be wearing the brown Tibetan Buddhist bracelet that you gave me years ago.

  5. Your idea to add candles was a great one and will go along well with the incense that we'll burn. Incense has been a consistent thing with us for years and is often used during special occasions.

  6. We will read letters to each other and conclude the ceremony with a kiss when the last person (you) have finished your letter.

  7. After our ceremony is complete, we will celebrate by going to The Skillet for the Polish Wedding Dinner. If they're open for in-house dining, we'll eat there, but if not, we'll eat at that same city park where we ate last time. I looked for it today and I think it's called the Governor Joseph Kernan Park. Once we've finished desert, we'll head to Perkins to eat pie for dessert. I think that's going to make that a tradition whenever we visit South Bend.

  8. Once we return to our hotel, I will be desperate to have you, so I will spend an hour or so spoiling you with attention and making your toes curl. I am the only one who is allowed to do that because you are mine.

These are just a few of the ideas that I have and I'm curious to hear if you have any other ideas. I'm really looking forward to this next visit. I'm just crazy about you.
