We first visited Mojave National Preserve four years ago. We'd gone out there to camp and do some hiking and were glad we made the trip. The campgrounds were all full, so we decided to do some backroad camping. We drove down a long dirt road and found a nice place to set up the tent for the night. We cooked a nice dinner of salmon and spinach that night, listened to music and eventually went to sleep.
The next day, we visited the lava tube (or was it the day before) and we got some great pictures. Five or six really great pictures. Of them all, this was my favorite. We'd done this pose at a place east of Palm Springs (the name of which I'd forgotten) and it worked even better here, with the light streaming in through the hole. I call it "Arachnophobia."
